How Much Carpet Underlay Do I Need?

To work out how much underlay you need simply enter your room’s dimensions into the spaces below (you can use metric or imperial).

You may find it easier to divide it into 2 or 3 separate sections if the floor you want to carpet isn’t square or rectangular (maybe there’s a bath or fitted furniture).

Our tip: You should make an allowance for the wastage that occurs during fitting. Unusual shapes and smaller rooms usually have a higher proportion of wastage. Our calculator will give you examples of wastage rates when it works out how much underlay you need (they’re just a rough guide though).
