Cloud 9 Cumulus Carpet Underlay is a great underlay to give your carpets support, protection and a soft feeling underfoot. Its an 11 mm PU Underlay from the Cloud 9 carpet underlay range. At 11 mm Cumulus is Cloud 9’s thickest underlay and is designed for use in luxury use areas were a high degree of comfort is required. It comes in 15m2 Rolls and is easy to install. It has a 43dB sound rating and a 3.1 TOG heat insulation rating

We recommend Plushwalk 12mm for the best feeling underfoot. It also has improved performance with a 49dB sound rating and 3.5 TOG heat insulation.

Does Cloud 9 Cumulus underlay help to insulate my home?

Very much so – this unique underlay has an impressive 3.1 tog rating that insulates your home incredibly well.

A tog rating measures an underlay’s ability to retain heat, with one being the lowest and four being the highest. Cloud 9 Cumulus 11mm scores highly on this scale, meaning your home will stay cosy and warm throughout winter.

However, even though they insulate your room well, underlays with high tog ratings shouldn’t be used above underfloor heating systems as the heat can’t pass through the cushioning and heat the room.

Can I use Cloud 9 cumulus 11mm underlay under laminate flooring?

No – this underlay is specifically designed for carpets and isn’t suitable for supporting laminate flooring.

Carpet underlays are thick, adding luxury comfort underfoot and leaving your carpet more resilient and able to handle weights in high-traffic areas.

Installing laminate on top of thick and bouncy underlay can damage the floor-locking system that joins each plank – this looks unsightly and is highly uncomfortable to walk upon.

Instead, you’ll need a thinner laminate floor underlay (below 5mm) to keep your flooring looking new and feeling supportive.

Can I use Cloud 9 Cumulus carpet underlay above all subfloors?

Definitely – Cloud 9 Cumulus can be laid upon many subfloors including concrete, vinyl, and tile, due to the quality and robustness of the underlay.

Cloud 9 underlays are renowned for their excellent durability and thickness, which provides a cushion between the harsh subfloor and carpet.
